WordsNumbers have to be recognised as words before they can be used in speech. That sounds trivial until you meet thirteen and thirty in the same sentence, or fifteen and fifty, where the only difference is the ending.

You are shown a small sum written in words, and four answers also written in words. Pick the right one. A wrong pick reveals the answer immediately.
Easy adds two numbers with a total up to twenty. Medium adds multiples of ten. Hard subtracts.
-teen is the smaller one: thirteen is 13, thirty is 30.
-ty endings are multiples of ten: twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety.
Spelling traps: forty has no u; ninety drops the e of nine; twelve and eleven do not follow any pattern.
Teens to know: eleven, twelve, thirteen, fifteen, eighteen all break the -teen spelling rule.
Hear the stress. thirTEEN is stressed at the end; THIRty at the start. Even reading silently, imagining the stress separates them.
Convert to digits, calculate, convert back. seven + three becomes 7 + 3 = 10, then ten. Doing arithmetic directly on words is where errors creep in.
Use the -ty ending as a filter. If the answer must be above twenty, only the -ty words can be right. That eliminates half the options instantly.
Watch the spelling of the answer. fourty is wrong — it is forty. The options may include the misspelling deliberately.
