MathTime arithmetic is the kind of math adults actually use and children consistently get wrong, because it is not decimal. Sixty minutes make an hour, so adding 45 minutes to 14:20 does not give 14:65 — it carries into the next hour and becomes 15:05. Nearly everything difficult about clock math comes from that single carry.
This game covers the three jobs that matter in real life: adding minutes to a time, finding how many minutes pass between two times, and adding hours and minutes at once.
You are given a time problem and four answers. Choose correctly before the timer runs out; a wrong pick reveals the right one immediately. Scores and best scores stay in this browser only.
Easy adds a round number of minutes. Medium asks for the elapsed time between two clocks. Hard adds hours and minutes together and can cross midnight.
Minutes carry at 60: 14:20 + 45 min = 15:05. Add the minutes first, and every full 60 becomes one hour.
Elapsed time: from 09:15 to 11:40 is 2 hours 25 minutes, which is 145 minutes.
Crossing midnight wraps: 22:40 + 2 h 35 min = 01:15 the next day.
Add minutes, then carry once. 14:20 + 45 gives 14:65; subtract 60 and add one hour to get 15:05. Never try to carry twice in your head.
For elapsed time, cross the hour first. From 09:15 to 10:00 is 45 minutes, then on to 11:40 is another 100. Total 145. Hour boundaries are far easier anchors than raw subtraction.
Watch the answer format. Some questions ask for a clock time, others for a number of minutes. Reading which one is wanted before you start calculating stops most careless misses.
Use the minutes field as a checksum. The minutes part of the answer depends only on the minutes you started with plus the minutes you added; if it disagrees, the hours are wrong too.
